“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news,” Mr. Fred Rogers said to his television neighbors, “my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”
What we are experiencing not only as a country, but the world, right now is unprecedented. Fear is a common feeling in many households and the thought of the unknown is concerning. So, let’s look for the helpers. They are all around us!
Those helping moments are happening right here, right now, at Plymouth Foam. We’re celebrating the kindness and generosity of our team members. “A few weeks ago Ocean Timmerman and Joy Anzia proposed the concept of producing masks to those who are most vulnerable in our community,” said Dave Bolland, President and CEO of Plymouth Foam. “We have simply expanded on their vision and leadership to others in our organization looking to help the community in some way. It’s an honor to be involved.”
The Plymouth Foam team members who choose to participate in the Sheboygan County Mask Makers group have a designated work center at our facility in Wisconsin. They are able to utilize the space when experiencing a lull in their area of business. We join many other organizations and helpers throughout the county with this effort. Our combined resources are truly appreciated!
The Sheboygan County Mask Makers have set out to make a difference. To date, their members have donated 3400 masks. Their mission is undeniable:
“Spreading the Love One Mask at a Time💓
We are a collaboration of volunteers and passionate people who have come together to provide our vulnerable community members, our neighbors and our loved ones, who are working in high-risk occupations, with handmade, non-medical face masks in hopes of slowing the spread of Covid-19 in our community.”
Their website includes key information about their efforts including drop box location and safety, mask request applications, donations and mask patterns. Wherever you live, please consider seeking out an organization that has a similar mission. These are moments to be celebrated and always remember, we are all #InThisTogether.
