There is a wise old saying by Ryunosuke Satoro, “Individually, we are one drop. Together we are an ocean.”
This is particularly true in a recent partnership between two companies in our industry –one on the manufacturing side, one on the recycling. You have heard us mention Dart Container Corporation in our May 22nd blog relating to public drop-off points in California for EPS foam; recycling material into a new product (Glu6). Their specialty is manufacturing foam cups and containers and have recently found a key partner in the industry. Cue; Plastic Recycling Inc. PRI is one of the largest recyclers of polystyrene and other materials and has specialized in recycling polystyrene since 1988.
By the first quarter of next year, Dart and PRI anticipate to create the first-of-its kind reclamation facility where 25 million pounds of post-consumer polystyrene is expected to be housed in a 300,000 square foot facility. This is the first facility in the nation to process both rigid and foam post-consumer polystyrene; a classic example of how a long-standing relationship as the recycler (PRI) has been handling material from the manufacturer (Dart) for years and now looking to take their partnership to the next level. We look forward to watching you build your ocean of success.
