Celebrating earth day this past week made us realize the ongoing importance of being energy efficient. At home; lightbulbs, appliances. In our cars; fuel efficiency. Building design and construction; insulation. (To just name a few) At any given time during any given day being mindful of energy efficiencies can help reduce the amount of energy required to provide products and services.
But, what are energy efficiencies anyway? By definition, energy efficiency is a way of managing and restraining the growth in energy consumption. Something is more energy efficient if it delivers more services for the same energy input, or the same services for less energy input.
We recently came across an article by Arkansas Business titled, Foam Home Advocates Tout Energy Efficiency, Strength, Fire Resistance. Naturally our ears perked up and we started reading more. Statements such as, ‘’most energy efficient home in the country’’ and…“because the interior of the foundation is steel and EPS, there is no danger of mold, termites or other problems that may plague traditional stick-framed houses. The airtight foam also can create dramatic savings on heating and cooling costs,” gave us the reminder on the beneficial of using foam products in our lives.
How did you celebrate earth day? By purchasing appliances that are water saving? Driving cars that offer better gas mileage? Perhaps a new addition to that list is buying a home that is more energy efficient. Read more of the article found: http://ow.ly/M1KGX.
