Burgess Chief of Staff visits Altor Solutions Foam Fabricators Plant

It is election season! While that might mean more aggravating commercials and junk mail for many of us, from a business standpoint, it is also one of the best times of year to get face time with local representatives and other policy makers. Recently, our Altor Solutions Foam Fabricators team in Keller, Texas got to meet with James Decker, Chief of Staff to Congressman Michael Burgess. Congressman Burgess (R), also a licensed medical doctor, represents Texas’ 26th district, which ecompasses the city of Fort Worth and much of the surrounding area.

The team at the Altor Solutions Foam Fabricators facility was excited to show Chief of Staff Decker around the plant on October 19, 2022, and company leaders were eager for the time to discuss sensible environmental policy. In fact, policy was a huge reason for wanting the visit. A lot of current environmental legislation does not take into account the value EPS foam brings to the economy compared to its environmental footprint. Often EPS is seen as just one more plastic product without truly looking at its differences and positive aspects. The meeting highlighted the sustainability and recyclability of EPS with an added awareness of BioEPS (biodegradable) materials.

The visit was coordinated by Walter Reiter, Director, Advocacy & Regulatory Affairs, with the EPS Industry Alliance (EPS-IA) and it is part of a larger project to get more lawmakers into industry facilities. In its recent newsletter, the EPS-IA mentioned that “This year, the association has organized more than ten plant visits and held numerous meetings with Congressional staffers to promote EPS industry stewardship and weigh in on sensible environmental policy. These efforts are aimed at federal lawmakers that have representation in states with EPS manufacturing plants.”

Plymouth Foam, an Altor Solutions company, is excited to see our other facilities getting well-deserved recognition from policy makers. We also welcome the chance so many are having to open a dialogue on sensible environmental policy and the role EPS foam can play in a more sustainable economy.
