From Recycled Ocean Plastic to Adidas Boost® x Parley Shoes

From recycled ocean plastic to Adidas Boost® x Parley shoes, this initiative is in full force to help remove polluting plastic waste out of the oceans; creating a more sustainable environment.

“Threat to Thread.” A plan to end the fast growing and global threat of  plastic pollution. The article, These Adidas are made from recycled ocean plastic, and they’re the most comfortable running sneakers I’ve tried, stated, “Adidas paired up with Parley for the Oceans to repurpose the millions of pounds of plastic currently polluting the world’s oceans. Instead of remaining waste, Adidas has found a smart way to use recycling to their (and the planet’s) benefit.”

Last week we featured our Germany experience to BASF designfabrik® in Ludwigshafen, Germany. At the BASF plant, we saw first hand where they produce ETPU material for the Adidas Boost® x Parley shoes, called Infinergy®.

Not only are these shoes a great idea from an ecological standpoint, wearers state that they are one of the most comfortable shoes for the avid runner or for everyday use. By 2020, Adidas wants all of their shoes to made by recycled plastic.

In 2017, Plymouth Foam launched Airehide®. “In addition to the unique properties for product performance, Airehide®  provides 100% recyclable material properties” said Doreen Lettau, Vice President Market and Business Development.
